Safety Days for Off Piste Skiers/Boarders and Ski Tourers at Spielberghaus, Saalbach

We are delighted to offer our members (and non-members) the opportunity of participating in a special safety training course for off-piste skiing/boarding. In this course, you will learn how to make better judgements in alpine terrain.

We are offering this unique opportunity at the Spielberghaus hut in Saalbach, Austria, together with selected experienced partners including qualified mountain guides. The content of the training course provides a great introduction and preparation for the coming Winter and allows for the sharing of knowledge from experienced professionals.

The course agenda includes skiing/boarding in small groups in freeride and touring terrain, where the focus lies on identifying and managing alpine risks. Complex topics, such as snowpack analysis, will be broken down step-by-step. Other topics covered by the course include route selection and managing groups. These will all be covered in a personal but professional manner. Focused training on handling emergency situations, including useful tips and tricks gained from professionals working in this field, round off the agenda. At the renowned Spielberghaus hut, you will also have the opportunity to clarify areas of uncertainty and inform yourself of new product updates.

This safety training course is aimed at both freeriders and tourers. All participants must be capable of skiing/boarding (but not necessarily particularly experienced) in off-piste terrain for an extended (all day) period, which will include small ascents (of up to one hour duration / 800 metre ascent for ski tourers).

Price: EUR 335/350 (members/non-members - dependant on the final number of participants, could become slightly lower), including:

two nights' accommodation at the Spielberghaus in shared accommodation,
transfer from Saalbach to and from hut,
welcome drink
hire of safety equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe)*
opportunity to win prizes!

* Where required, notification to be made at least 10 days prior to arrival.

Note: Travel to and from Saalbach, additional meals, lunch and drinks, lift tickets and additional personal expenditure are not covered in the above cost.
